Fall 2022 - Fall 2025
Our team developed an automated, low-cost, and high-yield hydroponic system that was implemented in Decatur Central High School in Indiana through our partners at the Marion County Farm Bureau (MCFB). Our project aimed to address and help address the issues of food-insecurity and food-deserts that exist in these communities by growing fresh produce that may not be available in those areas.
The hydroponics system was delivered to an AP Environmental Science class to help educate future generations on how to innovate sustainable agricultural practices, understand soilless farming, and empower their communities to combat local food insecurity. The MCFB’s mission is to educate about and encourage urban farming methods and introduce agriculture to underserved communities. This project was designed in mind of the above objectives.
